On the 9th May 2008, the Padrão dos Descobrimentos in Lisbon, hosted the presentation of the results of the 18th Costwatch Campaign. Quimitécnica Ambiente and the Lisbon Port Administration have supported this event.
This European Project, which has been coordinated by Ireland since 1988, has the cooperation of 23 European countries, including Portugal. Every year, 10,000 kilometres of coast are covered, with the participation of volunteers, from the Norwegian fiords to the Greek islands. Since its beginning, “Project Coastwatch” has evolved, from the gathering of information and the monitoring of the coast, to incorporate environmental awareness and education, and a level of local participation in the decisions that directly relate to the coast.
On the 9th of May, the Padrão dos Descobrimentos in Lisbon, hosted the presentation Seminar of the results of the 18th Coastwatch Campaign, which was dedicated, this year, to the coastal communities. The relevant importance to the environment of “Project Coastwatch” was sufficient motivation for Quimitécnica Ambiente to provide its backing. More information here: |
