Zoomarine in Portimão, Algarve, hosted, from the 17th to the 19th April 2008, a workshop within the scope of Project "RIOS – Reducing the Impact of Oils Spills". Eco-oil was the main sponsor of this event, with Nordeconsult, Zoomarine and Sea Alarm Foundation as partners.
The purpose of this project, co-financed by the European Union, is to elaborate a Letter of Recommendation allowing the definition of strategies and future financing of investigation works in the incident management, and / or rehabilitation of the maritime fauna and flora subjected to spillages, as well as the mitigation and monitoring of inherent risks. The several specialists are to identify priorities, in a joint effort for a growing and effective international cooperation.
The aim is to approach the different operational areas related with this situation, namely oil companies, scientific community representatives, marine life rehabilitation agents, environment NGO’s, and others with an effective direct or indirect involvement in the prevention and / or answer to incidents with crude and similar products.
Considering the affinities with Eco-Oil own activities, the company has decided to sponsor this event, speaking about "Eco-Oil – Institutional Communication".
