Eco-Oil – Treatment of Contaminated Water, SA, is the Portuguese company with the largest capacity for treating water contaminated with hydrocarbons.
We treat oily waste from marine or terrestrial origin, and our treatment process values the hydrocarbons to produce fuel oil.
The treatment unit, strategically located in the port of Setubal, incorporates control technology and centralized monitoring system, ensuring high standards of treatment efficiency as well as environmental safety.
Created to treat contaminated water from tankers destined to Lisnave repair shipyard, nowadays Eco-Oil is a national and international reference as a waste treatment plant and also recovered fuel production.

Who Are We
Eco-Oil – Treatment of Contaminated Water, SA is an operator of hazardous wastes and a supplier of recovered Fuel. It began its operations of collection and treatment of oily waste in 2001 and holds the Environmental Permit No. 8 / 1.0 / 2015, one of the first issued in Portugal under the IPPC Directive (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control).
The company operates a marine terminal for private use, located in the Port of Setúbal, and the facility holds high tankage capacity that enables the reception of up to 5,000 m3 in a single operation.
The oily waste, known as slop oil, are composed of hydrocarbons, water and solid contaminants.
The plant, with 1000 m3 daily treatment capacity, invests in recovery and upgrading of the hydrocarbon fraction and uses reliable and modern technology, applying the best and most eco efficient practices available.
From the treatment process, the recovered hydrocarbons are valued to produce a fuel marketed as fuel oil.

History
Eco-Oil – Treatment of Contaminated Water, SA is the leading national company for the reception of hazardous waste from marine origin. With waste treatment and oil recovery operations held in Setúbal, in the middle of Sado estuary, Eco-Oil provides a guarantee for the protection of the environment, people and assets.
Eco-Oil began its activity of collecting and treatment of oily waste in 2001, it holds the Environmental Permit No. 8 / 1.0 / 2015, and was one of the first industrial units licensed under the IPPC directive (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) and MARPOL 73/78 (International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships).
