Eco-Oil carried out a full decontamination operation of the fuel tanks of the cargo ship PORT IMABARI.

This operation, which involved the removal of sludge from the bottom of the tank and the complete cleaning of the walls in order to prepare the ship to receive the new fuels included in the IMO2020 and thus avoid any possible contamination of the new fuel.

The IMO2020 standard is, according to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a historic decision for the environment and human health, with the implementation deadline as of January 1, 2020; on that date, ships may only use low sulfur fuels.

Gonçalo Camejo, coordinator of the decontamination operation commented “the operation was a success, having been completed on time and without any incident and / or accident; cleaning was praised, either by the crew officers or by the shipowner ”,“ (…) this is an area of ​​activity to be developed and for which Eco-Oil has important competitive advantages, such as a private pier, equipment for cleaning and available manpower”, added Gonçalo Gamejo.
